Hi there!
I am a student at the University of Southern Queensland studying Education and I am currently involved in the course "Australian Indigenous Studies". As part of the assessment for this course we are required to investigate and report on a particular aspect or issue, of our choice, that is relevent to Indigenous Affairs today. My particular area of interest is concerning the over representation of Indigenous People in the criminal justice system. Did you know that the rate at which Indigenous People are imprisoned is 26 times higher than that of other Australians? I am very interested in opinions regarding the following questions:
1. What are some of the factors that you believe may have contributed to this alarming problem facing our Indigenous People?
2. What are your thoughts on Black Deaths in Custody?
3. What do you feel is the answer to this very concerning statistic?
I am really interested in both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous views on this subject.
Thank you so much.
Kind Regards,
Davina. |
